This meticulous pre-crimping allows the wires to nest securely together, drastically minimizing random movement and ensuring a precise, consistent opening size throughout the mesh. This weaving method significantly enhances the strength and rigidity of the wire cloth. The crimped mesh is available in three principal types: Double Crimp, Lock Crimp, and Intermediate Crimp. Lock Crimp stands out as a highly effective pattern for all heavy-duty screening applications where a coarse screening surface is acceptable and the spacing is considerably large relative to the wire size. The Lock Crimp pattern ensures each wire is firmly locked in place, maintaining uniform openings. The Intermediate Crimp pattern is an advanced variation of the basic pre-crimp weave, where both warp and weft wires are crimped with additional crimps or corrugations between intersection points.
